Participating with a Painting: Al Qahwa at Café Société in a group participation under PAKs Gallery.
Inspired by Claude Monet’s textured brushstrokes and blended abstract backgrounds, Al Qahwa at Café Société represents the Emirati outtake of the French impressionism.
With an emphasize on moods over realism, the artwork includes the hidden abundance of the Al Hilali Red Ratab, a type of ripened date. Traditionally, various types of dates are always served with Al Qahwa (Arabic Coffee). The painting of represents one of the main Emirati hospitality traditional rituals, as it defines the shared Emirati and French cultural memory and appreciation of coffee as a simple luxury.
